I finished mounting the shocks yesterday. In the case of the lower shock mounting assemblies, the space was filled (see photo in previous blog entry) using the McMaster-Carr aluminum spacers (#94589A450) I recently received (0.745" x 0.505" x 0.0475/0.0538"). The thickness was perfect for filling the space in the spacer assembly.
The combined spacers for the upper assembly were slightly too lengthy: 0.004” and 0.012" for the DS and PS, respectively. This was fixed by filing down one of the spacers.
Unfortunately, my torque wrench (Performance Tool #M198) started to fail while I was torquing the nuts— it wouldn’t ratchet and the ‘click’ at the set torque wasn’t very distinctive. [The tool wasn’t very old (may a year with few uses).] So I bought a Husky today. I have another Husky torque wrench and it seems to be better built than the Performance Tool version.
