October 2017 Update

I’ve been remiss in keeping my blog up to date: I’ve made quite a bit of progress on the Mk IV over the last 3 months.  I’ve completed:

The 3-link suspension:

The rear brakes:

The fuel tank installation:

The steering rack:

Peddle box:

And I’ve begun work on the brake lines:

The soft steel brake lines really vexed me on the last build and my initial tries this time was equally frustrating.  I learned from the build sites about NiCopp tubing (Ni, Fe, Cu): it is easier to bend and is corrosion resistant.  Apparently European automakers have been using NiCopp for some time.  The down side is that it’s more expensive than the soft steel lines but I bought it in bulk (a roll) so the cost is not too bad considering the advantages.
