The brake lines are done! For the most part it went well: I probably only tossed 1/2 of the lines I made! The test, though, will be if they hold pressure. The remaining brake components to be completed before I can put brake fluid in the lines and test the system are installing the brake reservoirs and the lines to the master cylinder. I ordered hose for brake fluid and some grommets for the holes I’ll put in the DS footbox firewall for the hoses to pass through. I’m also having a 3/32" plate made as a bracket to hold the build reservoirs: it will be placed forward of the DS footbox on the upper 3/4” tube. The brake line photo album is here.
I’ve also been starting work on the finish for the Al. I like the bare Al look but the Al needs to be protected from further corrosion. I’ve tried a light polish using Mother’s Al and Mag polish using a buffing wheel on a 6” random orbital polisher. It’s a lot of work and pretty messy, too. I don’t want a high polish but something more than the dull metal. I’ll experiment some more but may end up using a Rustoleum ‘hammered’ finish in the end.
I’m trying to get caught up in creating the photo albums and construction steps to boot.
